  • What me worry?

Dusk over Atlantis.jpg ¹ Near the end of the year (December 2012) marks the "end of the world". Well, according to television's History Channel and the Mayan Indians anyways. In times of despair, the Russian finds a bottle of Vodka, the Frenchman a woman, the German turns to magic, the American a Bible and the Canadian just plays sports. I'm not too worried about this doom or gloom - I think the Mayans meant the end of their enemies, the Toltecs -  they based their war activities on the Venusian calendar. Let's play the game!!

Natural diamonds mined from miles beneath the Earth, go through a geological process of nature and many stages of development (time, pressure, heat, extraction)- each of course, has to be payed for eventually, by the end purchaser - you.

Let's eliminate the control that middle men have on diamonds' prices.

Since I can't afford the inflated price of natural diamonds, then giving her or myself the next best thing is worth exploring. Control is an interesting term in science. The science labratory process does the same thing as nature - in quick time!!  Scientific Zirconium is the poor man's diamond!! Natural zircon is MOHS hardness 7.5. My stone was invoiced as an eleven carats octagon (10x12mm) Adamant Lab CZ White diamond transparent. The company's web page, (seen off ebay) describes the lab process completed with 8.5 MOLS hardness - harder than natural ruby/sapphire gem quality stones!! The inflated price control of the gem is now in my hands; with the choice of setting. Gold is currently worth more than platinum!! Given to the 'bride to be', with an upgrade promise later, gets me over the hurdles of engagement - leaving room for improvement later and a major savings.

    Properties of Lab Cubic Zirconia
    Chemical Composition        ZrO2
    Hardness                             Mohs 8.5

“How do you feel about exercising?”

         Wrist Curl.JPG  Marketing Strength.jpg

The local YM-YWCA has a weight-room with lots of weight machines to assist in muscle development. My favorite sport is golf. To prevent injuries while in play, strengthening does help. Putting together a cross-reference of sports and weight training, I found some interesting points. Using only seven ( 7 ) exercises, I can increase muscle growth and excell in this individual sport of golf. Looks like there's money in it.

My game of golf can be improved doing sets of bent laterals, dumbbell curls, incline press, lat machine, side laterals, twisting and wrist curls. These same seven basic exercises will enhance the body further for other sports like archery, baseball, bowling, fencing, judo, squash and tennis - to name a few.²

  • Beale Research

Beale Research has turned up some interesting facts that might pertain to this treasure.

The word Enigma comes from the Latin aenigma; from Greek ainigma; and from ainissesthai, ainig-, to speak in riddles, from ainos, fable and means puzzling, ambiguous or inexplicable such as a perplexing speech or text or riddle.

According to Edgar Allen Poe in his short story,"The Gold Bug", in English, the letter which most frequently occurs is e. Afterward, the succession runs thus: a o i d h n r s t u y c f g l m w b k p q x z.  The letter E predominates so remarkably, that an individual sentence of any length is rarely seen, in which it is not the prevailing character. He also wrote the short poe on Enigma in 1848.

The lost colony of Roanoke was founded in 1585. The innkeeper of an English settlement in Virginia was a guy called Robert Morris. The United States of America Secretary of State during 1781 was also a Robert Morris. During the American revolution, Robert Morris, Superintendent of United States of America Finances was permitted to conduct profitable, private business ventures while serving the government. It seems no one else could carry on his job. The first United States of America Treasury was a small iron chest (similarly described in the Beale cipher) kept by Robert Morris (innkeeper), George Washington's Superintendent of Finances. It held all the money that financed the American Revolution. The revolt against England resulted in the signing of the documents of Independence. Governor Morris (1752 - 1816) headed the committee that wrote the final draft of the United States of America Constitution. He had been suspected of sympathies for England at the outbreak of the American Revolution. Decimal coinage was introduced by G. Morris in 1782. President Jefferson introduced dollars and cents in 1832.

The Constitution (1791) and the Declaration of Independence (1776),of which there are 300 variations, were both signed by Robert Morris of Pennsylvania. The United States of America Bill of Rights was an addition to the United States of America Constitution in 1789 and was later ratified in 1791. Morris later introduced the Erie Railroads.President Jefferson first mentioned Virginia gold deposits in 1782. North Carolina discovered gold in 1830. Virginia is mentioned in the United States Constitution only three times - the same number of ciphers in the Beale treasure. In 1776 Kentucky was a county of Virginia. In 1780, Kentucky was divided into three counties. Virginia is the place of Beale's treasure concealment in 1817.

Another Historical Document called the "Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence" of 1775-04-31, Written by the committeemen of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and published in 1819, shows this document is generally looked at as a compilation of recollections of the committeemen from 1775. When first published, it led some to believe that Jefferson may have been guilty of plagiarism when writing The Declaration of Independence, but it later became clear that he had never heard of it before 1819.

Visions.jpg ¹ The Beale ciphers are three encoded documents left by Mr. Thomas Beale in 1819 & 1821, which are purported to identify a location of a fortune in buried golden treasure. The second of these three ciphers has already been decoded using the United States of America's Declaration of Independence. The cipher tells of a fortune in buried gold and says that the exact location can be found by decoding the others. The encryption is to record only the distances starting from a known starting point in some well known document (ie: United States of America's Declaration of Rights) to the next occurrence of that letter. Other possible clues include using a substitution cipher or displacement cipher. The Information Highway or Internet goes into a lot more detail.

  • Only looking, eh?

Cinema.jpg  OK, here's what I think ... To get ahead and find work in the Canadian Performing Arts, it might be best to consider joining a Union. Some companies are allowed to hire only Union members. Here's the scenario - The applicant is walking into a group of offices with Union representatives from all the major and independent film studios. Their looking for work and an emmy. They ask to join the union as an apprentice. Their name is placed on an active member listing or other listing that best describes their work requests like choreography, dancing, documentaries, film, music recordings, television, voice overs, etc. Their name moves up the list as work is dished out. If work is refused, then their name moves to the bottom of the list. Remember, it is the Union's job to keep their members working in a short-term work environment. Various North American Unions are listed under the search for 'Canadian performing arts unions'.

Dueling Guitars.jpg Thinking beyond that point of expense, I would enter the dragon so, to speak, as a security guard trained in Standard First Aid, CPR and Difibrillation on the look-out for any street drugs in use. I understand the industries (performing arts and music) are loaded with the stuff. The newspaper tells of many an aspiring star with talent, ruined by nacotics use. It should not be tolerated. A good security guard with any knack for observation could 'nip the dealer in the bud' with a bust. I would think that art companies would welcome this type of surveillance in their mists. Way to move up!!

  • Coaching the Pet Owner

    Tiger3.jpg ¹

The big outdoors is perfect for walking the pet. Both the owner and pet need the fresh air and exercise. Walking the pet needs no special skill but does require a certain finesse or technique. The pet must be attached to a tether, with the owner or walker/trainer close by to restrain the animal in case of reaction to whatever until they do their business.

People and children use the parks, playgrounds and sidewalks for recreation and do not appreciate stepping in a pets' left-over mess. Public pet-parks are now a common sight. Public bylaws, in place for the majority of citizens and property owners, are strictly enforced outside the restricted fenced in pet areas. Littering fines could be costly as, the local civic government is scrambling for the revenue. Look over your shoulder, almost everybody has a phone camera for evidence collecting.

The "stoop and scoop" procedure is not always understood and does sometimes, result in a misunderstanding of intelligence to the owner. Step by step, the pet needs direction with their public display of "gotta get rid of it somewhere" attitude. For this enjoyable relief of approaching the end of the walking exercise, may we suggest preparedness for it. At the beginning of the pet walk - consider the end of the animal left-over remains.

Some pets are trained to talk to the handler. They use certain gestures like pointing with their paws to the mess or clawing dirt, leaf and twig to the area in question. This is an excellent sign of pedigree training and should be addressed immediately before the purebred makes too much noise.

The pet-walker needs, an official civic government enforced nickel (5 cents) plastic bag, for the refuse placement in the nearest trash container – that is what it's for. Any pet also appreciates a clean swipe after doing their business. May we suggest "Lysol Disinfectant Wipes". These wipes murder 99.9% of common viruses and bacteria associated with the pet droppings both on the pet and hands. Lysol Disinfectant Wipes also murder (kills) influenza A virus, just like soap and water.

I approve of this product and highly recommend it for the conscious pet owner not holding their nose after the walk. Yes, this was a product review disguised as feedback to the news.

    "Bond, James Bond."

    Topless.jpg¹

Current news has informed the public of five (5) James Bond films slated for production. The current trend is to dramatize the secret agent exactly as portrayed by his author.  Ian Fleming has at least three short stories not put on film.

The Property of a Lady ( radio broadcast ) is the story of a cipher clerk employed, by the Mi6 or Mi7 receiving a Russian antique emerald Fabergé. This intell sends James Bond to Southey's of London.

The Diamond Smugglers ( 1957 ) is the exciting story of the world's biggest smuggling leak – and the private intelligence entity created to plug it. A real-life assignment worthy of an Ian Fleming hero !!

The Hildebrand Rarity (1960) this story finds James Bond in the state of Florida. (Playboy Magazine 1960-03, p. 28)

Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, is probably today's most popular author of thrillers. His knowledge of international spy networks, the background both for his novels and for this exciting documentary, dates from his service as a Commander in Naval Intelligence and as foreign correspondent for Reuters and the London Sunday Times. (Collier Books)

    Quoteable Quote:

"Any system for transmitting information is top flight dangerous. The government does not want any system of transmitting any information to remain unbroken - unless it is under their own control." ²

James Bond movies (1962 to present) Basically they remake Thirty-Nine Steps (1935), Secret Agent (1936), North by Northwest (1959), Marnie (1964) and Topaz (1969) ad infinitum. ³

  • Health & Safety

    Micro Chip

At my place of employment, I am part of the Safety Performance Management responsible in helping the staff be and stay safety aware. The problems I am faced with are many.  Ministry of Labour inspectors with more authority than the police, when it comes to safety compliance in the workplace. Multi-lingual computer operators (Arabic, Chinese, French, Hindu, etc.) that don't communicate very well - unless on computer. My time allotment is restricted to safety – one hour per week. Twenty percent (20%) of the work day is spent searching on the Internet for safety related information on my breaks and lunch.

So, the solution to this is addressed by breaking down the problems to its smaller components, to deal with the whole thing systematically. The objective is POMS or Production Objective Matrix Safety.

The methodology is fivefold; Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in the Warehouse Hazard Management Information System (WHMIS) is made available to the public intranet of the organization. Categorizing the safety binder with listings in alphabetical, chronological, location and type of industrial chemicals in use, gives direction in an emergency to the required solution.

File recovery of the MSDS soft copy (PDF Lab report from the supplier) allows access to the information for quick-print and emergency reference by any computer operator. Material Safety Data Sheets have to be refreshed every three (3) years by the supplier. Updating and distribution of MSDS to safety board, first aid room, storage locations, storage managers and safety committee members, ensures compliance with safety due diligence.

In summary, small basic incremental changes, continuing at low cost, builds on expertise from the bottom up with people safety empowerment in control. Results orientated with achievable goals approached with a doctrine in focus. Strive for improvement with what people you have on-hand to tolerate challenges directed at change and semi-automation as a whole. Quality is built into the system to ensures customer retention satisfaction.

  • The Legend of Saint Nick

The following is a short list of the attributes surrounding the legend of Saint Nick otherwise known as Santa Claus, gleaned from reading and just questioning life in general.

How does he do it, is he a time-lord or something!

The number of girls worldwide is about two billion according to the last census, still in their teens. It appears Saint Nick doesn't deal with about 80% of them because of their religious beliefs. That leaves about 20% of two billion teenage girls to take care of or about 378 million girls. Assuming there is at least one good girl in the average household, that represents 92.19 million homes that Saint Nick will attend do in due time. Saint Nick only has a little over thirty hours to complete this magical delivery of gift to the girls. Taking into account the different time zones, rotation of the planet and his traveling from east to west, Saint Nick  has over 800 houses to visit per second! Therefore, in a blink of an eye, Saint Nick has to do a lot of things per delivery. He has to park the sleigh on the roof, jump down a chimney, fill the stockings, position the bigger gifts under the tree, eat the mince pie or cookies, drink the milk or sherry, scoot back up the chimney, jump back on the sleigh and then hustle to the next house. In thirty hours, if he follows the same routine, Saint Nick will consume tons of food (this explains his overweight problem) and close to a million liters of sherry! Driving under the influence of sherry does have its implications because his judgement and excitement would be stretched to the limits of endurance before completing his once a year task. Saint Nick would have to `pause a second` to allow for the fraction of a second stopover for each house. To maintain schedule, Saint Nick would have to travel hundreds of miles per second or thousands times the speed of sound (close to the speed of light) just to reach the next house on time. That`s without allowing time for a washroom break.

I have yet to discuss the weight factor of the toys and the capabilities of the reindeers or horses used to pull the sleigh. How does he do what he`s got to do, to get the job done!
