According to the article, 'Evolutions in Cyber-War' by Chris Wood, under the by-line 'Casey Extraordinary Technology' @ www.CaseyResearch.com on May 21, 2011;

Well, instead of using peer-to-peer communications protocols and passing messages from machine to machine, a central 'hub and spoke system' could send a ElectroMotiveField to knock out the enemy's computer. Control would come to a halt and the opposing enemy could just walk in. The problem of course, is how to protect their own systems from their own cyber-attack?
Reading research has found the military's answer to this question in the non-fiction book, 'Future War Non-lethal Weapons in Twenty-first Century Warfare' by Col. J.B. Alexander, US Army (retired), 1999, Chapter Five, page 64 says, ... in the future, electronic pulse (EMP) weapons could be used to "fry the enemy's air-defence system". NATO is currently conducting research.
A product review shows the use of the semi-precious element known as tourmaline. According to Xion Technologies (www.x-ion.org - on the package?), tourmaline is a negative ion air producer that protects the air from the harmful effects of EMF. I use it and yes, the light pushed out by the screen does seem to hit a force-field containing the supposed danger of minor radiation. The small thumb sized attachments are used on the exterior of the electronic device. Another defence solution could also be found in the halogen molecule. It is said to have a natural force-field. I guess, we will have to wait for quantum electronics becaue Wikipedia could not describe this element as having any use. Patience.
