Secrets Revealed
The General Grand High Priest of the General Grand Royal Arch Chapter of the Celestial Canopy of the United States of America begins another meeting. “Illustrious Companions, Right Worshipful Masters and Beloved Brethren, of our ancient, co-existent, honorable and refulgent Institution of Free and accepted Masonry.”
The Freemasons seems to have been originally a fraternity2. The Royal Arch is a cipher. The ancient, religious, sublime order of Freemasonry was no doubt introduced into this country, as the only way of conferring titles and distinctions in this land of “ragamuffinous dimecrats”. The lodge has its grades, honors, talismanic powers – ensuring escapes from pursuing enemies and titles. The society provides advantages in putting its possessors directly into high office and power. For any new star in the courts of pleasure to acquire all the grand titles of this order, the point of initiation shows obedience to authority in instruction, ending in a masonic purification or trial by water and fire. The participants are sworn to secrecy with an ancient Gulliver’s Travels book in hand. A quiz is asked by the General Grand High Priest otherwise known as “Your Worshipful”. Questions, concerning general knowledge-retention include; What is grammar?, What histories have you read?, What is Geography?, Have you studied the Latin language?, What is Chemistry? and Mathematics – algebraical, geometrical or trigonometrical principles.
The sanctorum totororum of Solomon’s temple is based on the Knight Templar Mason’s Book of Constitutions detailing rhymes of erroneous positions and negative comments concerning exploration and territorial expansion of the United States. Since this topic is based on geometry, the science is probably applied to Geology. Around 1790, the mineral resources of the United States were practically unknown. The country seems to have produced iron enough for its simple needs, some coal, copper, lead, gold, silver, and sulphur. But we may say that mining was hardly practiced at all.3 The prospector locates an outcrop. The geologist determines the inferred and implied limits of the mother-lode below ground with systematic drilling. Geology is employed in the process of that determinism. The Freemasons protect the wonderful secret, which the brotherhood has so often defied the whole world to discover, within the history of the origin of Freemasonry. Currently, mining laws (1872) do not levy royalties on hardrock mining.4
